THE TOMATO PILL

June 18, 2009

Recent studies show there may now be a Tomato pill that can beat heart disease. Scientists’ say a natural supplement made from tomatoes, if taken daily, can help to protect against heart disease and strokes. The new tomato pill contains an active ingredient from the Mediterranean diet - lycopene - that blocks the “bad” LDL cholesterol that can clog arteries.

Comments

Following a Mediterranean-style diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables and little saturated fat has also been shown to lower cholesterol, and reduce heart attacks and strokes in those at risk - and: REAL tomatoes taste so much better, wanna bet?

Of course real food is better than pharm chemicals.  Isn’t it true that lycopene in cooked or processed tomatoes is more bioavailable?
